REVIEW: Vichy Idéalia Line

Vichy has recently come out with a new line targeted at preventing the signs of fine lines and increase skin's glow (perfect for the 30 something's demographic!). This soothing and reconstructing skin care line is formulated with amazing ingredients such as blueberries, fermented black tea, and Vichy Mineralizing Thermal Water.

The line consists of 7 products:

First of all, the packaging is so beautiful. They all feel high in quality and have a nice weight to the bottles. Now on to the products...

Radiance Booster Serum: I noticed a nice light liquorice and floral smell. I found it applies beautifully into the skin, not too heavy or slippery. My skin instantly felt silky and smooth and I found it very refreshing.

Radiance Activating Night Peeling Care - This product was very fresh and invigorating. Felt very hydrating and calming.

Energizing smoothing and radiance gel-cream - This mattifying sorbet cream made my skin feel baby soft. I could feel it instantly sealing in hydration.

Smoothness & Glow Energizing Cream - This product initially seems bit heavier, with a wet-oil kind of feel. I think it would be a great step for additional hydration for dry skin and/or winter months.

Below is a special Q & A with Mara Vezeau, Vichy's Integrated communications leader and medical relations.

I would definitely recommend this line to anyone coming into or are in their 30's looking for a little revitalizing! Say hello to glowy, hydrated skin!

REVIEW: Quo Spring Collection

*Disclaimer: These products were sent to me by Quo for review. However, the information stated below of the products are (as always) my own, honest opinion.

.

Ok, first off...can we talk about how amazing the packaging is for Quo's new Spring 2016 Collection???

Glossy black palettes adorned with beautiful 3D mirrored glass in an oil spill pattern. They are so gorgeous in person, and so fun to have as an addition in the kit. Also, they feel like quality palettes, very built well and they feel heavy...they aren't about to break while the kit is travelling, which is super important.

In this package I received 4 palettes (from clockwise above):

1- Quo Prismatic Face Palette (Blush, bronzer, and highlighter)

2- Quo Prismatic Eye Palette ('Infinity' - soft beige, pinks and greys)

3- Quo Prismatic Eye Palette ('Colourful Life' - soft pastels)

4- Quo Prismatic Brow Kit (Eyebrow cream and eyebrow powder)

1- Quo Prismatic Face Palette - Blush, bronzer, and highlighter:

This palette is my favourite of the bunch. Each item in the palette has a bit of an iridescent shimmer to it, but none of them are overbearing in any way. The bronzer has a neutral beige/pink tone to it , rather than how some bronzers give more of an orange tone. This gives a very nice, subtle and more natural look to it. The blush applied beautifully, just the right amount of colour. Again, a nice subtle tone. The highlighter was the perfect accent to the other two, not super shimmery or frosty, just a nice sheen when the light catches it. Loving this trio!

2- Quo Prismatic Eye Palette - 'Infinity':

This is a very nice neutral palette. It gives a medium type of concentration, the colours come out soft, but have enough pigment to create a great look. This is going to be a great staple in my Bridal kit as it has the perfect romantic shades that brides are after!

3- Quo Prismatic Eye Palette - 'Colourful Life' (on the right in the picture below)

This looks like a fun palette with great pastel tones in it. I feel it gives a nice variety. The pinks and purples in it again will be fantastic for bridal. The concentration, like the other palette, is medium pigmentation. It's not super thick, but rather a nice soft opacity. I used the eyeshadows from the first palette (Infinity) for my sample look, and used an eyeshadow primer underneath. The eyeshadows went on really smooth and grabbed to the primer really well. They also stayed put without any creasing.

4- Quo Prismatic Brow Kit:

This is a great little brow kit. The Brow cream goes on nicely and allows for the powder to have something to grab onto, giving the powder a more defined look to it. The concentration is great, however, the tone of the top colour for myself was a bit to auburn, and the lower colour was a bit too dark. Great addition to the kit though!

Thanks Quo for letting me test out your new Spring 2016 Collection! Here is a sample look I created using the face palette, the brow kit, and the eyeshadow palette in 'Infinity'.

REVIEW: Viktor & Rolf's FLOWERBOMB

Disclaimer: This fragrance was NOT sent to me for review. I purchased it…because I love it. And of course, all of the information below is my own personal opinion.

This fragrance seriously is the bomb. Victor & Rolf's Flowerbomb is described as having notes of bergamot, tea, freesia, jasmine, orange blossom, orchid, rose, patchouli, and it is practically an explosion of flowers and deliciousness. When on my skin (since everyone jives with fragrance differently), I notice more of a sultry, musky scent, which was exactly what I was after. I definitely notice the jasmine and orchid as well.

As I get older I’m getting much more sensitive to scents (like one whiff and I can get a migraine for days). Which is really sad because I used to be all about different perfumes and mixing it up. Now I have to be really selective, and also gear towards more natural fragrances as well, like essential oils, etc. However, this one has been great, and I can’t get enough of it! If you are in the market for a sexy, girlie new fragrance, I highly recommend checking out Viktor & Rolf’s Flowerbomb!

(Quick tip: If you check it out at Sephora, ask for a sample of the fragrance and they will make you a mini to-go bottle!)

REVIEW: Les Soins de Jacynthe

*Disclaimer: These products were sent to me by Les Soins de Jacynthe for review. The information stated below is (as always) my own personal opinion. Review is of my first-time use of product)

Les Soins de Jacynthe is a skin care line out of Quebec, Canada. Founded by Jacynthe René, a former actress and producer who now owns her own magazine and has been featured in many publications. She has also published three books in only four years that revolve around health and wellbeing.  She is an avid supporter of a greener lifestyle and her work definitely shows it. You can view her online magazine here, where you will find advice about anything from electromagnetic pollution in our homes, to natural remedies for common ailments, to delicious recipes for maintaining your skins radiance!

I was sent three products from Les Soins de Jacynthe (cleansing oil, serum, plus the rose water) and I have to say as soon as I opened the box, I was delighted to see such clean and cute packaging. (The mailing box even had a sticker on it that said “sent with love from Jacynthe – in French). I felt as if I had received something from a classy Parisian apothecary. The bottles are dark brown and two of them come as tinctures. The rose water came as a spray. The labels are simple yet elegant with a hand-made, one of a kind feel to them. One of the main reasons I was attracted to review this brand was due to the way they pride themselves as being 100% natural with active ingredients, they do not contain any GMO’s, they do not contain any chemicals, and they are completely cruelty-free, not tested on animals. This is exactly what you want for happy skin!

1. Huile nettoyante de Jacynthe (Cleansing oil)

Ingredients: jojoba and apricot oils, sea buckthorn CO2, bourbon, geranium rosa, ylang ylang and sandalwood oils.

Ok guys, this cleansing oil is seriously amazing. As soon as I opened it I was greeted with such a delicious smell. I mean…it’s got sandalwood and bourbon in it. Bourbon. I put a dropper full of the oil into the palm of my hand and began massaging it onto my skin. It is meant to be a makeup remover and cleanser, but I was tempted to leave it on my skin as it felt so good. I felt so relaxed with the combination of the scent and the massaging that I actually felt like I was getting a decadent facial in my own home. I would highly recommend this product, and I’m looking forward to using it more!

2. Eau florale de Rose (Rosewater)

Ingredients: 100% rose water.

I have to be honest and say that rosewater has never been my thing. The scent for some reason usually gives me a headache and I often find it overwhelming. That being said, I was still intrigued to try out Jacynthe’s rosewater. I was pleasantly surprised when misting it onto my face. It felt really refreshing, and the rosewater fragrance didn’t feel overwhelming at all…it dissipated and didn’t linger aggressively like other waters/fragrances. This is a beautiful refresher/toner after cleansing your face!

3. Le Sérum de Jacynthe (Serum)

Ingredients: evening primrose oil, borage, buckthorn & Rosehip CO2 extracts, sandalwood, rose, natural vitamin E and rosemary oleoresin.

This is the third step in the system, the potent serum. Containing ingredients such as buckthorn and vitamin E, I knew it would have great benefits for the skin. I used a couple drops out of the tincture and gently applied it to my skin. I waited a few moments, and added a little bit more and my skin was left feeling nourished and hydrated.

As I unwind before bed...the aroma from these products are left lingering slightly on my skin and it is the perfect way to relax. So nice!

Overall Verdict: I definitely noticed how soft my skin felt after using all three products. I absolutely love that they are all 100% natural ingredients and are Canadian made. My favorite out of them all has got to be the Cleansing oil, which I seriously cannot wait to try again. I will continue to use these products and give an update in about a month!

REVIEW: Blinc Box Discovery Collection

*Disclaimer: These products were sent to me by Blinc for review. However, the information stated below of the products are (as always) my own, honest opinion.

The other week I was sent a pretty little box filled with some pretty little goodies. Blinc has been on my radar for a few years. They pride themselves on being "life-proof", which in their terms is a combination of run-proof, smudge-proof, flake-proof, and water-proof. I commonly get mascara smudges on my lids (I don't have the biggest eyelids, and they are fairly sunken) so a lot of the time I will come to look in a mirror and see black lines transferred across my lids! So frustrating. Enter Blinc. They are well known for their tube-like mascara, that glides on and creates tiny water-resistant shields on each individual lash. Another amazing quality of this type of formula: bye bye mascara flakes. I cannot tell you how many times in the past you would hear me say "ow, ow, ow...I've got something in my eye" only to find a little black spec in there that has fallen from my lashes. Not fun. Blinc really takes a lot of pain away when it comes to mascara. Literally.

So, to say the least, I was super excited to test out a couple of their other products in the line!

This sample box came with:

 - Blinc Mascara Amplified in Black

 - Blinc Eyebrow Mousse in Light Brunette

 - Blinc Eye Shadow Primer in Light Tone

 - Blinc Eyeliner Pencil in Black

It also included:

 - One spray bottle to test out the "life-proof" quality of the product

 - One super adorable designer cookie in the shape of a mascara wand created by Hello Baked

Now on to the review...

1) AMPLIFIED MASCARA (in black)

The box came with instructions of testing out the mascara on your hand. I drew a swipe of the mascara across my hand and waited about 1-2 minutes for it to dry. Here are the stages of testing the "life-proof" quality:

The mascara after (pretty hard) rubbing.

 No smudging or flaking.

The mascara after a light mist of water (meant to mimic sweating or crying).

No smudging or flaking.

The mascara after a heavy spray of water.

Signs of lifting.

The mascara after rubbing after sprayed with heavy water.

Easily removable pieces. Good for removal.

The mascara came off nice and easy with a cloth.

Easy clean up.

Verdict: The mascara definitely stays put! I love how it doesn't flake, smudge, or lift unless you get it fully in water and rub it off. I would, however, like to test this while swimming and see if it would last!

One other note; When I've tried blinc mascara in the past, my only complaint was that I didn't feel I was getting enough volume in my lashes. It almost reminded me of having my lashes tinted. However, this new formula (Amplified Mascara) definitely has a bit more volume to it, which I love. Easy to layer as well.

2) EYEBROW MOUSSE (in Light Brunette)

This eyebrow mousse is applied with a mascara-style wand, which coats your hairs nicely with a full mousse formula.

Verdict: One thing I noticed about the product, is that my eyebrows felt a little stiff and heavy after application. However, the feeling went away within a couple of minutes. I am used to using a pencil and/or powder on my brows, so the heavier option of a mousse is something different for me. I was impressed with the tone/colour of this shade and could see how it would be a nice universal shade for many people.

 3) EYE SHADOW PRIMER (in Light Tone)

This eyeshadow primer is said to give any shadow crease-proof, fade-proof wear and also contains ingredients clinically studied to decrease fine lines and increase skin's moisture. It has a doe-foot applicator and a nice thick yet silky consistency.

Verdict: I really like this product. I feel like it went on super smooth, and my eyeshadow adhered well without any faded areas. I also didn't notice any creasing at all in my shadow afterwards. This is going to be a staple in my kit! Especially for my brides!

4) EYELINER PENCIL (in Black)

This eyeliner is meant to glide onto lids effortlessly and offers intense, all day, waterproof colour that cannot smudge or fade. Blinc also states that is is an anti-aging formula that contains antioxidants for conditioning benefits.

Verdict: This picture somehow gives the liner a brownish tint to it, but in person it is a true intense black (ps- notice the eyeshadow primer still on my hand even after using it up to apply on my lids. It is dry here and not going anywhere!). With the liner, I waited a few moments for it to dry on my hand and then gave it a good rub test to see how smudge proof it is. It wouldn't budge. When applying on my eyes, I did a solid line on the top lashes. I found the product to glide super easily and I was able to fit it really tight into the lash line, which I loved. I noticed I needed to work very quickly before the product set too much if I wanted to do any blending of the liner. Which is a testament to the life-proof claim that the brand has. Another great staple for my kit!

Here is a look a created using these four products:

Other products used for look:

MAC Prolongwear Concealer in NC20

MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Medium

MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Give Me Sun

MAC Powder Blush in Springsheen

MAC Eyeshadows in Blanc Type, Naked Lunch, Rich Flesh and Deep Fixation

Ardell Lashes in #110, Duo Waterproof Glue

MAC Lip Glass in Lust

And here is another shot without the lashes so you can see how the mascara looks on its own:

Overall Verdict: I am completely impressed with the Blinc Discovery Box Collection. These products did not disappoint. If you are looking for a good non-transferable, non-flaking, non-smudging mascara, you really should try this one out. The primer is also something I would highly recommend to create eyeshadow looks that don't fade. The liner is also great if you need to create a look that can withstand any moisture. I will most definitely be using these products as staples in my kit.

Thanks Blinc!

REVIEW: TRESemmé Beauty-Full Volume System

The Concept:

When washing your hair, follow the steps and use the Pre-wash Conditioner first, and follow with the Shampoo last. This leaves hair lighter and easier to style. Once hair is dry, finish by using the Hair Maximizer: Flexi-Max + Polishing Complex for bouncy, touchable hair.

I've now been using the two (in shower) products for about a week or two and can honestly say I am super impressed. A couple of key points that I have noticed:

1) My hair dries SUPER fast whenever I use these two products. I'm sure it is because having the shampoo second, the hair is less likely to be weighed down by any leftover conditioner, etc.

2) My hair is silky smooth, especially after using the Hair Maximizer.

3) Held styling really well. Backcombing went in and stayed amazingly, as did curling.

A couple cons:

1) I try my best to use more natural products, so using shampoo and conditioner with mainly ingredients I can hardly pronounce sometimes makes me cringe (however, the overall length of the ingredients list is a lot shorter on these products than I have noticed on others).

2) If I let my hair dry naturally with these and just leave it, it does get a tiny bit frizzier than normal, but is quickly managed by the Hair Maximizer cream.

3) It has the classic TRESemmé scent to it, which can be a pro or a con...depending on your opinion. For me, I kind of like it...but feel it may be a bit much for some.

The Verdict:

Yes, I completely agree that this Volume system from TRESemmé gives hair a ton of volume and in my opinion helps a lot in the pre-styling process. A great way to prep your hair. My hair felt lighter and thicker!
