THE BOUJIEST THING I'VE EVER DONE IN MY BEAUTY ROUTINE (and why I'm officially hooked).
I came across a video online of someone going over their ‘hand care routine’. Even being in the beauty industry, I haven't given my hands too much thought beyond a good wash and a rich moisturizer. However, this video was compelling to say the least.
It went a little something like this: 1) wash hands with a gentle face wash (not a hand wash), 2) use an exfoliating pad to scrub around cuticles and any dry patches, 3) Use a light yet nourishing hand cream (she recommended the Neutrogena swiss gel lotion).
Now, being a hair and makeup artist (having my hands work so closely with clients and also being in almost every client's photo gallery from the day - hello lipstick application shot) I certainly want the healthiest looking hands - So what did I do? I immediately planned out how I could put this routine into practice.
I did go and purchase the face wash she recommended (Aveeno oil cleanser), but TBH have yet to use it as my hand wash (for some reason that still feels a bit too extra for me) so I may just keep that as my next actual face wash.
I realized I already had some exfoliating patches (which felt a bit too rough for my face so I haven’t been using them). Well ok - PERFECT.
I did purchase the specific hand lotion she mentioned, because you can honestly never have too many hand lotions. HOWEVER - and this is where I get extra bougie - while grabbing for my exfoliating pads, I noticed a neck cream I purchased not long ago sitting beside it. This was a luxe neck cream, an investment no doubt. But everytime I used it, my neck broke out, and ultimately I decided it was too thick for my skin. So what's better…it sitting on the shelf collecting dust? or me using it on my hands for the ultimate hand rejuvinationi? That's right, I chose the glow up ✨
Not even a week after implementing these TWO items at the end of my evening skin care routine, my dry patches are gone, my cuticles have never looked better, and I get a sweet little dopamine hit every time I use this neck cream on my hands - feeling like I'm giving myself a boujee luxury makeover.
Now, I’m certainly not saying to use these exact products, or go out and purchase an expensive neck cream to use on your hands 😳 BUT, I would highly recommend incorporating some inexpensive exfoliating pads like these, and a dedicated hand lotion like this into your daily routine. Because it certainly made a big difference for me 💯
